Honeywell ST7100 Direct Replacement

Here in 2017, the Honeywell ST7100 is definitely looked at as a bit of an old boy now. And rightly so. It's decades old! But credit where its due, this Programmer was / is a great little workhorse. Although, the technology is now a bit dated. It's only a one channel, one day unit. These days people are wanting something a little more hands off that can be programmed for the full seven days.

However, the ST7100 can't really be questioned about its reliability. It is capable of lasting for decades, and has done just that for many users. But needless to say, nothing lasts forever, especially electrical products. And the ST7100 is no exception. When the time comes and its time to replace this model with a newer one, you will want to swap it with something that's going to be a relatively easy swap. A direct replacement if you will.

Two that are considered as direct replacements (by Honeywell themselves) are the ST9400A and the ST9400C (7 day operation). There will still be some wiring involved, and depending on your system setup, that could be really simple, or a little more complex for those who are not too knowledgeable with wiring. If in doubt call an expert in to make the change over. If you need to see a quick comparison between the 7100 and 9400 series see this post on the diynot forum.

I can attest, had one of these for over 20 years and still running just as good as the first day. Never gave me any problems. No reason for me to upgrade and I would feel sad to get rid of it to be honest.
